Pantech bone conduction telefoon
James wrote to us about:
In december 2003 had ik er al een keer een
itempje over gepost en het lijkt nu echt op de markt te komen: telefoons met bone
conduction. Da’s gewoon een telefoon alleen het geluid gaat niet vanaf een speakertje
rechtstreeks je oor in maar maakt gebruik van trillingen. Die trillingen worden via
je schedel dan doorgegeven aan het gehoor.

Is Microsoft finally patenting the Zune Phone?
This is interesting:
Make reports on an article about patent filing from Redmond which may indicate the Microsoft is busy preparing the long rumored Zune Phone. The photographs of screen mockups that come with the patent application seems to suggest that their “Extensible Filtered Lists for Mobile Device User Interface,” will include a touch interface picture viewer, phone calls and message screen, games, mp3 player (of course), calendar, and all the usual suspects. It doesn’t look as pretty as the Cupertino’s iPhone, of course, but it’s a Windows interface, so it’s going to be list-if-ied and organized in group fashion.
The user can organize the data any way he/she chooses in list fashion and can even expand it. So, if they can list their MP3s alphabetically, by album, label, band, user preference. They can update their phone book in a myriad of ways, or even handle their pictures accordingly. […]

Watch Camera Cell Phone Hyundai W-100
Came across this today:
We’re on a new integration kick - multi-function gadgets are the new thing. The Hyundai W-100 cell phone watch has a 1.3MP camera, touch screen, and Bluetooth. Apparently the perfect watch will be available in English and Chinese, and sports microSD for expansion for MP3 audio and video playback. Battery life is sure to suck but for everything this…

Firefox on your Mobile Phone
Just came across this:
Just as we launched the mobile version of Coolest Gadgets ( coolest-gadgets.mobi ), Mozilla announce that they are committed to bringing a new version of the popular browser Firefox to mobile devices. You’ve been able to download minimo for a while but this will soon be scrapped and replaced by the new version.
Mike Schroepfer, Mozilla’s VP of Engineering had this to say:
People ask us all the time about what Mozilla’s going to do about the mobile web, and I’m very excited to announce that we plan to rock it. Here’s some information about what we’re planning to do with hiring, technology, partnerships, and products, and how you can get involved. Short summary: we are serious about bringing the Firefox experience and technology to mobile devices.

Patents, Interfaces, Stupidity and Brownnosing: a rant.
Found this post:
You might ask why the fancy title. Well, I’ve been reading various blogs today, and I’m truly and utterly revolted. I won’t link to any of those articles now, simply because I consider them to be too stupid to read.
What happened is that Microsoft has applied for a patent. This patent is for a new interface program to be used with Windows Mobile. It comes as an optimization for touchscreen, as most of us know how quirky Windows Mobile devices are when used with a touchscreen. HTC has tried to do something about it with the Touch, but they haven’t quite succeeded. Also, the TouchFlo interface copies a bit from compiz/beryl (a free graphic shell for linux) and the scrolling comes from the iPhone, indeed.
Read on to see what crimes Microsoft have committed again.
So… What have they done?.. golly… They dared to use a normal horizontal list whose items one […]

Samsung shows off new handsets
Found this post:
Samsung has gone on from strength to strength where cellphones are concerned, and this time their new line up will cater specifically for music lovers while attempting to offer an alternative to Sony Ericsson’s line of Walkman cellphones. This trio of handsets will place more weight on music compared to other phones from Samsung’s stable, and hopes to strike a balance between a cellphone and a music player. The three phones in question are the Samsung SGH-i450, the Samsung SGH-F330 and the Samsung SGH-F210. For more details on each individual handset, kindly head on after the jump.
The Samsung SGH-i450 will occupy the position of top dog among the three, boasting an amplifier that was developed by high-end audio specialists Bang & Olufsen. This will definitely grab the attention of anyone around whenever you play back your favorite tunes, and chances are you won’t miss any more incoming calls in a […]

iPhone Clone to paper the Cellphone market
Found this:
Since it’s announcement, the iPhone has been contending with the iClone. Cheaper knockoffs of Cupertino’s breakthrough cellphone that has turned the wireless industry (and some bricked customers) on it’s head. The latest, is the SPhone, which remarkably looks very much like the real McCoy. The only difference is that where Cupertino’s original uses high impact plastic, the SPhone employs a more environment friendly paper. Yes, you read right. A paper iPhone. Read on.
Turns out that the idea for encasing the iClone in paper has religious overtones. It appears that in Chinese culture, if people burn it at funerals, the former owner will be able to reach out and touch someone in the afterlife. IN addition to its combustible features, the SPhone sports some other, more cooler features: a 3-megapixel camera, 3G, MP3 player, infrared, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, memory card slot and […]
